Jason Davies, Chair of Governors
Recently retired as a Royal Navy Captain with 27 years of experience within healthcare and medical logistics. Operational deployments include Iraq, Afghanistan and more recently leading a multidisciplinary healthcare team providing humanitarian support for the United Nations in South Sudan.
Jason’s military experience has provided wide exposure with the majority of business functions such as operations, HR, financial, strategic and portfolio/programme/project management. From a leadership perspective, he has had the privilege of commanding several times including the Commanding Officer of Defence’s School of Healthcare providing pre and post graduate education to over 4000 students per annum and the Royal Navy’s deployable flagship hospital onboard RFA Argus. His tenure saw successful award of a GOOD Ofsted rating following the school’s geographical move from Aldershot to the West Midlands. Academically qualified with a Master’s degree in Business Management, Jason is also a Chartered Manager and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
His business achievements include successful implementation of the most ambitious change management training programme ever attempted by the Defence Medical Services, on time requiring no additional resource. He also successfully transferred the Military’s in-house healthcare service into Gibraltar’s Health Authority providing a year on year saving of £2.2M. Such was the success of this model that it was rolled out across two other overseas territories.
